Lehi, UT, April 1 2015: The team that brought true watering intelligence to your yard is about to bring it to the sky above your yard. Skydrop is proud to announce the latest addition to the Skydrop family of products — introducing the Skydrop Drone Irrigation System.
Why spend the money and time installing irrigation pipes underground when water can more easily come from the sky — at a fraction of the cost. Skydrop drones leverage the intelligence of the Skydrop Smart Watering Sprinkler Controller as well as integration with Skydrop Cloud in order to optimize watering times and frequency.
At Skydrop, we are constantly looking for ways to innovate. We asked ourselves, “We have the controller, why not provide the entire system?” But we knew it had to be something special. Drones were the logical next step. — Clark Endrizzi, Co-Founder and CTO
Skydrop’s engineering team has developed proprietary new technology to seed clouds with extreme accuracy. This technology is the key to watering specific areas of landscape without affecting other areas (or your neighbor’s yard).
This is all patent-pending and hush-hush tech, but I can tell you this — it involves lasers! How awesome is that! — Matt Romney, VP of Hardware Engineering
Initial test deployments will begin within the next months in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States, beginning with Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Skydrop’s VP of Sales, Mike Jardine, promises that within a year, Skydrop drones will be able to cover 83% of US households. Pricing has not yet been announced.
