How does the Skydrop Controller work and what makes it different from what I have now?

Why is your Water District paying for this?
Because of the drought on May 5, 2015, the State Water resources Control Board (“SWRCB”) adopted emergency regulations to achieve a 25% statewide reduction in potable urban water use. If your water district does not hit the mark they have been tasked with they will be fined. Beyond that, we all need to be managing this precious resource better.

Is this mandatory?
No, it is not mandatory but because of the drought and the mandated reduction of water usage by the State, it is strongly encouraged.

Do I have to pay anything?
No, you are not obligated to pay for anything. Your water district has paid for the basic service in full. There is an optional service called the Skydrop Plus membership. It is very popular with residents because of the added features. Ask your representatives for more details if desired.

What has your water district paid for?
Your water district has purchased the controller and 1 expander zone. Anything else you wish to purchase will be given to you at basic costs.

Is this a scam?
Nope. This is for real. Your water district has purchased equipment and service valued at up to $447. You can get it for $0. No catch. No strings. We just want to save water. Is the government going to be able to spy on me?
No.

Will the water district be able to control my sprinklers?
No.

Will the water district be able to see how I am watering?
No.

I like to be in control of my water settings. Will I still be able to do that?
Yes. After professional installation and programming, your Skydrop controller will be able to manage your yard for you without any interference or adjustments from you. But if you want to tweak it and manually control things, go right ahead. You can do so from your phone, tablet, computer or the panel itself.

I am used to what I have and I am afraid of new technology. Is this hard to use?
No. It is very easy to use. If you can send a text message you can use Skydrop. If you don’t know how to send a text message…well, we will teach you how to do that once we install the Skydrop panel.

What is in it for me?

How will it make my yard greener?
